Two years ago, on the morning of 10 March 2019, a Boeing 737 Max crashed to the ground from the skies over Addis Ababa. As many as 157 people died, of 33 different nationalities. Among the eight Italian victims was PAOLO DIECI, president of CISP and of the Link 2007 network of international cooperation and humanitarian aid organisations.
He dedicated his life to the development of peoples, mainly working between Italy and sub-Saharan Africa. Paolo was one of the most clear-sighted and tireless advocates of international cooperation for development and his actions were marked by a constant search for dialogue with social and institutional realities based upon communication and reciprocation of values.
In this context, Link 2007, Le Réseau and CISP established the "Paolo Dieci Award for Partnership between Civil Society Organisations and Diasporas" in memory of Paolo and his commitment to peace, the rights of every person, and cooperation between peoples in building lasting partnerships.
By working together in institutional offices and collaboration in a joint project in West Africa initiated by Paolo, that Link2007 and Le Réseau, an organisation promoting cultural approaches to immigration and integration, have shared paths and objectives which acknowledge the great value of partnership between Italian civil society and diasporas. Without this partnership, neither organisation would have been able to achieve the results they obtained separately. The merit of a common path now pervades work in international cooperation, enhancing its value and effectiveness.
The initiative is aimed at civil society organisations in Italy, the diaspora and the new generations that have experienced or are experiencing an equal partnership in the implementation of development projects or education for global citizenship.
Its aim is to enhance and encourage partnerships between NGOs and CSOs and the organised realities of the world of immigration and of the new generations to deepen, communicate, and implement quality development cooperation that is effective, sustainable and of mutual interest and to stimulate the promotion and sharing of good practices in the field of co-development.

The contents of the call for proposals and its regulations are indicated on the relevant page. An authoritative Jury will assess the quality and effectiveness of the projects submitted, in relation to the modalities and quality of the partnership as well as its added value.
With the participation of institutional authorities and sponsors, the first three projects in the Jury’s ranking list will be presented in a public ceremony. The promoters of the winning partnership will be awarded the “Premio Paolo Dieci 2021” and a report on the project will be produced by an outstanding documentary filmmaker to be aired on channels hosted by the media partners of the Premio Paolo Dieci.
