On 27 September 2022, RESTART MED! will celebrate World Tourism Day with a summit organised by project lead CISP and that is taking place in Palermo, as well as online, livestreamed.
SUSTAINABLE TOURISM SUMMIT
“Better policies to increase sustainability in Mediterranean tourism”
As per the United Nations, this year’s “World Tourism Day will be celebrated as the shift towards tourism is being recognized as a crucial pillar for development and as progress is well underway”. Where is tourism going? What can we do to help it grow in the most sensible way?
The Restart Med! summit will answer these questions throughout the day with the participation of representatives of Ministries, local authorities, civil society organisations, entrepreneurs, youth, and universities from a number of Mediterranean countries.
“Better policies to increase sustainability in Mediterranean tourism” will lead attendees to discuss and propose policies for a sound development of sustainable tourism in the Mediterranean area, considered as an integral tourism destination with common challenges.
With the aim to reinforce the networking among sustainable tourism stakeholders in the entire region, the summit will focus on policy perspectives to connect actors of different networks and countries, to build capacity by disseminating tools and best practices, and to raise common standards and expectations in the sustainable tourism community.
The full day event will include presentations, thematic panels and focus groups. Online attendees will be also able to take part in the debates and ask questions via Zoom. The event will take place in English and Italian, with an interpreting service.
